Preserving printed photographs and film strips, with digital restoration.
How do I work?
I do not simply scan old photographs, negatives and slides. As these are often irreplaceable memories, existing in only a single copy, I handle them with great patience and care. I use a high-quality scanner capable of capturing even the smallest details from paper or film, ensuring that the final result is suitable for reprinting later or viewing in a large format.
How else can I help?
- Physical cleaning: Before scanning, I carefully remove dust from the surfaces to minimise the amount of dirt that could interfere with the image.
- Digital restoration and retouching: If a printed photograph has become creased, scratched or even torn over the years, I try to restore it digitally. I repair tears and attempt to remove distracting dust particles and scratches.
- Restoring colours and contrast: Old photographs often fade or develop a yellowish tint. I try to restore their original depth and make the colours more vibrant, as far as the condition of the image allows.
- Preserving negatives and slides: I create digital photographs from old 35 mm film strips and slides, making them visible again and easy to store in the family archive.
- Continuous consultation: During the process, I show sample images of the restoration work. If a photograph is in very poor condition, we discuss what can be achieved, so you can also see the difference between the original and restored versions.
The result: High-resolution, clean digital photographs that you can easily share with family members while preserving their condition for future generations.
